Thrapston Primary School is a mainstream school with a specialist unit provision. We are committed to the ideal of excellence for all. We endeavour to achieve maximum inclusion of all children including vulnerable learners and more able and gifted learners, whilst meeting their individual needs.

Teachers provide differentiated learning opportunities for all children within the school and provide materials appropriate to children's interests and abilities. This ensures that all children have full access to the school curriculum and extracurricular activities. The term 'special educational needs and disability' (SEND) has a legal definition, referring to children who have learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn or access education than most children of the same age. The school facilitates inclusion for pupils with impairments and disabilities in terms of physical adjustments to ensure that they have equal access to the curriculum and extra-curricular activities. Children with Special Educational Needs and Disability may be making the same progress or even better than their peers. However, if progress is slower, then the explanation may not only be attributed to their Special Educational Need or Disability. We make every effort to narrow the gap in attainment between vulnerable groups of learners and their peers.

What is the Local Offer?

The Local Offer team publish information on this website about services available for children and young people (aged 0 to 25) with special educational needs and disabilities in Northamptonshire.

All local authorities are required to have a Local Offer according to the following legislation: North and West Northamptonshire continue to share the one created for Northamptonshire County Council.
