Application for a school place in Reception for a September start
All applications for a place at the Academy must be made through the Local Authority using the Common Preference Form. This can be accessed through this link Apply for a primary school place | North Northamptonshire Council– applications can be made online or by paper. Please note that you will be required to submit three preferences. Applicants cannot be guaranteed that they will be offered one of their preferences. For more information visit the NNC website
Where more than 60 applications are received the following oversubscription criteria will be applied:
After the admission of children with an EHC Plan where Thrapston Primary School is named as the appropriate provision, the criteria will be applied in the order in which they are set out below:
a) Looked After Children and all previously Looked After Children (see paragraph 5.9.1 of Admissions policy for definition of ‘Looked After Children’).
b) Children with a sibling link (see paragraph 5.9.3 of Admissions policy for definition of ‘sibling’).
c) Children of staff where that member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage in the area.
d) Children who live in the defined area.
e) Other children.
If the admission number is exceeded within any criteria, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.
If the application is unsuccessful, parents/carers will be informed as to how to submit an appeal.
In Year Applications (for a school place in Reception (after 31st December of year of entry) to Year 6)
All applications for a place at the school must be made through the Local Authority using the Common Preference Form. This can be accessed through this link www.northnorthants.gov.uk/in year-school-admissions Please note that you will be required to submit three preferences. Applicants cannot be guaranteed that they will be offered one of their preferences.
The school will consider all applications for places. Where the number of applications exceeds the number of places available, the above oversubscription criteria will be applied. The outcome of each application will be communicated to the parent/carer within the specified timescales. If the application is unsuccessful, parents/carers will be informed as to how to submit an appeal.
Admission arrangements for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

Appeal Information
For the September 2025 intake the appeals process will be managed by North Northamptonshire Council (NNC); any appeals must be submitted through the council’s online appeal form Make an appeal for a school place NNC - Introduction - Online form
If you would like a paper copy, you can request one from the main school office and then email or post it to the Appeals Team at NNC. Paper forms once completed need to be sent to the appeals team as below:

Once an appeal application is received, the NCC appeals department will arrange the hearing.
